This painting is also known as Study For An Altarpiece. Three angels are shown kneeling down the left hand side and biblical scenes are depicted to the right.
Davis may have received his initial training from the Pre-Raphaelite artist and designer Edward Burne-Jones. He later ran his own studio in Pinner, London, designing stained glass in a distinctive Arts & Crafts style for a number of churches across the country.
